Ben Mimbs in a native of Johnson County, Georgia. Ben completed his undergraduate studies at East Georgia State College where he received his associate degree in 2014, and the University of Georgia where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2016. During his undergraduate degree process, Ben worked for a geographic information science (GIS) company while also guiding students on outdoor trips during the weekends and holiday breaks. Following graduation, Ben moved to Juneau, Alaska where he worked as a canoe and kayak guide, leading paddling trips to the Mendenhall Glacier. Ben left Juneau to return to the University of Georgia where he received a Master of Science in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management in 2019. Ben’s research focused on assessing resident and tourist perspectives concerning stream access sites in north Georgia and western North Carolina. Ben enjoys spending his time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, paddling, and adventuring with his dog.
