Rachel Mingea was born in Greenville, Kentucky and raised in the coastal city of Jacksonville, Florida. At a young age she was brought along to farms in Kentucky where she was allowed to wander the rolling hills and learn about agriculture and wildlife. Her upbringing placed a strong emphasis on the value of resource conservation. She graduated from the University of Florida with a B.A. in English Literature. She earned a certificate in Natural Resources Management and later a M.L.A. in Environmental Management & Sustainability with a concentration in Ecology at the Harvard Extension School. Her graduate work focused on establishing an ecological baseline for the restoration of a freshwater and saltwater ecosystem in Cape Cod, MA. While in Boston for her education, she volunteered with the Barnstable Clean Water Coalition where she sampled water, analyzed nutrient trends, produced bathymetric surveys, and taught students how to gauge stream flow. She enjoys athletics, home improvement, and spending time with family and friends. Rachel is honored to serve the Georgia-Alabama Land Trust as a Regional Land steward for South Georgia.
